Edit 1

Originally built in 1985, Edit 1 was expanded in 1987 and completely refurbished in 2005. The suite comprises analogue editing, digital MPEG and DV editing, graphics production, voiceover recording and control gallery for the studio.

The preparation of copy masters from analogue videotape is a key application for Edit 1. There are also regular assignments with language versioning of archived analogue productions.

Edit 1 - control desk and monitor bay

During the past 20 years, Edit 1 has handled the post-production of several hundred productions. Since the introduction in 2000 of Edit 2 - the company's digital edit suite - Edit 1 is used mainly for dubbing, duplication and narration work. There are also some assignments which can be handled faster and less expensively in the analogue suite.

Edit 1 - Central Apparatus Room

The central apparatus room is the focal point for the studio's technical installation.

The C.A.R. houses several VTR's - including legacy videotape formats such as 1" C-format, Betacam SP, 3/4" U-matic SP and S-VHS that are often required for language versioning and duplication.

To serve both Edit 1 and other technical areas, the C.A.R. is equipped with comprehensive audio and video matrix routing and central patching, allowing easy access to central facilities from all areas.

There are also link lines to the audio studio and duplication suite, as well as digital access to the central media network.

All technical areas can be synchronised with the central apparatus room.

Edit 1 is also equipped with two non-linear editing systems - Liquid Silver (MPEG) and Avid Liquid 7 (DV), which are compatible with the NLE in Edit 2.These systems have direct access over gigabit network to our central media servers.

The system is used for editing, CD and DVD authoring, graphics production and web-design.

Edit 1 - DV editing and graphics production

Edit 1 also houses the central media servers and network storage. All digital production data - audio, video, stills, graphics, music, voiceovers and project data is stored centrally and can be accessed and shared by all technical areas.
